Experimenting with PVA glue as a readily available material. I filled a shallow tray with the glue and let it set - this took a few days until it was completely dry. A pro to using PVA glue is the consistency if thin enough for it to self-level when poured over a surface.
Once the glue had dried I carefully peeled it out of the tray - creating a semi-opaque sheet which lets the light through. The tray I used has residual paint marks in which were impossible to clean, and these have transferred onto the surface of the glue - however I think this adds another dimention and would be an interesting way to add colour for future reference.
