I have been using thread as a mark-making tool in an uncontrolled way - laying the threads and yarns down without concern of the shapes and forms they produce. Relating back to my initial drawings, which I find are still very relevant and informative to my work, I decided to trace their linear aspects directly with thread.
PVA glue spread on Kodatrace paper as a base
Using a pin to direct the thread into place;
Tweezers would have been more accurate!
Sheets of Kodatrace can be layered once dry
Results: Kodatrace gives the semi-transparent effect that I wish to achieve. The cloudiness of the paper is built up over the various layers which add depth to the work and start to resemble my tracing paper sketchbook.
